‘Tell Me Tell Me: Australian and Korean Art 1976–2011’ (2011–12) exhibition review

Considering the diplomatic motivations behind their collaboration, the curators have successfully avoided relying on the rhetoric of national clichés. Their rationale is underpinned by the assumption of overlapping artistic concerns that have punctuated a thirty-five-year history, with the various iterations and nuanced histories of conceptualism woven together. What promises to be an exhibition active with such possibilities of connection was, unfortunately, undermined by the limited space of the opening venue at Sydney’s National Art School Gallery. – Summar Hipworth
